Monchi told to sign new Aston Villa centre-back after Villa Park ‘howler’
Ty Bracey wants Aston Villa to sign a centre-back in January due to multiple mistakes made by Diego Carlos this season.
The 31-year-old was linked with a move away in the summer and it appears that the Villans wouldn’t mind selling him in the upcoming window for the right offer [Graeme Bailey].
This would leave Unai Emery’s side even lighter in the centre-back department and in need of an alternative.
Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, believes Villa need a consistent back line and bringing a new defender could help ease problems with conceding goals.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “Everybody has a howler in them along the line.
“We definitely need depth in that area, I’d rather see Ezri Konsa in that centre-back role.
“We need a consistent back four because we’re leaking a lot of goals.
“Hopefully Villa bring in someone in that area in the January window, I think that is an area we definitely need to improve.“
Aston Villa could sign defender after Diego Carlos admission
Emery just never knows what he is going to get from the ex-Sevilla man given his top-class performance against Bayern Munich has been dampened by errors against Wolves and Crystal Palace.
These showings combined with his age and decreasing value could point towards a transfer away from Villa Park making sense for all parties.
If the Villans are willing to accept a bid in January, that would also lean towards a potential new signing like Joel Ordonez coming in [Caught Offside].

It will be interesting to see how Monchi and Co. navigate the upcoming window but a sale may be necessary in order to make any additions.
