Jhon Duran told to ‘calm down’ as Aston Villa star involved in new controversy

Dan Bardell believes Aston Villa star Jhon Duran needs to calm down after clashing with the press after Colombia’s defeat against Ecuador on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old made a substitute appearance for his country on 19 November but didn’t have a positive impact in a 1-0 defeat.

In the media mix zone after the game, the Villa striker clashed with a journalist [PrimerTiempoCO] who asked: “What do you think we lacked?”

Duran sharply responded by saying: “And why aren’t you a coach? From the outside, you can see the spaces, there is a lot of talk, but you have to go in and play to see how things are.”

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell isn’t worried about this controversial moment but has still urged the youngster to calm down.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “It’s just Jhon Duran isn’t it, he could start a fight with himself.

It’s just the way he is, everything that he’s involved in, there seems to be something happening.

It’s his nature, I don’t think it’s anything for Villa to worry about on this occasion. I don’t think it will surprise Unai Emery, it’s the kind of thing that he’s been dealing with, with Duran, in his time with Villa.

At some point, he does need to calm down.

Aston Villa star Jhon Duran in new Colombia controversy

The ex-Chicago Fire star has been a phenomenon for the Villans this season which has seen him score top-class goals against Everton and Bayern Munich.

Despite his excellent performances on the pitch, the Colombia international never seems to be far from controversy which started with links to West Ham in the summer.

This is just the latest issue in a long line but as long as he puts in positive performances for Villa, Emery can overlook these controversial moments in the public eye.
