Gary Neville wowed by what Aston Villa star Rogers has done – ‘Top-notch’
Gary Neville has been left surprised by Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers’ electric form this season while describing him as “top-notch”.
The 22-year-old has become one of the first names on the teamsheet under Unai Emery since signing from Middlesbrough for £8million last January [Sky Sports].
After scoring three goals in his first season for the Villans, the attacking midfielder has already equalled this tally this campaign in a superb start.
This has seen Neville moot the Villa star as a “surprise” star in the Premier League this season on The Overlap (21 November).
Putting the ex-Manchester City youngster forward for the debate, he said: “Rogers at Villa, good shout that. He could be top-notch.”

There is no doubt that the new England international has caught the eye this season for his performances which are seen as a throwback.
His ability to pick up the ball and drive forward has been eye-catching, completing 2.50 successful take-ons and 3.13 progressive carries per 90 over the past year [Fbref].
This has made Rogers arguably the Villans’ most important player as he takes pressure off the defensive line while creating chances for his teammates on a regular basis.
The former West Brom starlet has already completed 18 dribbles in his opening 11 Premier League games which has resulted in him creating 16 chances [FotMob].
Arguably his best performance of the season came against Arsenal in the first game of the season at Villa Park (24 August).
In the clash against the Gunners, the attacking midfielder completed 71 per cent of his dribbles while also winning 80 per cent of ground duels, proving himself against one of the best sides in the Premier League.
These performances have resulted in a call-up to the England senior squad which is hard to argue wasn’t deserved.

In his second appearance for the Three Lions against Ireland (17 November), despite only featuring for 15 minutes and having 11 touches, the Villa ace still registered a 100 per cent dribble success rate which sums his abilities up.
Neville has good reason to enter Rogers into this conversation and arguably should have been higher up his list which included the likes of Chris Wood, Liam Delap and Ryan Gravenberch.
In other Aston Villa news, the exit of one star could now be likely after the latest £25million development at Villa Park.
