Aston Villa take new Man City stance after transfer window developments
Ty Bracey understands why Aston Villa have backed Manchester City against the Premier League after PSR issues in the summer.
The Villans were forced into selling Douglas Luiz to Juventus in the early stages of the last window to avoid a points deduction for a financial breach [The Daily Mail].
Fast forward five months and Villa have offered their support to the Citizens in the case of new associated party transaction (APT) rules against the league organisers [Tom Morgan].
Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, believes this decision makes sense given the multi-club model at Villa Park and the PSR issues the club have been forced to deal with despite a positive spell on the pitch.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I do think it is something that should be regulated.
“It is something that should be kept an eye on so it isn’t abused but in the grand scheme of things I understand it.
“We’re currently a club that is in a multi-club model who are under Villa’s branch so I do understand it from that perspective.
“We’ve seen the repercussions of PSR and the problems that caused us in the summer with losing Douglas Luiz.
“We had a very tricky summer and it should have been a time where the club was thriving. Really we were looking at fine margins and had to be careful which has led to this decision.“
Aston Villa back Manchester City in case against Premier League
This backing has somewhat come out of the blue from B6 but taking a deeper dive into the club, it certainly makes sense.
Villa are the figurehead club of V-Sports owned by Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens which also features the likes of Vitoria SC of Portugal, Vissel Kobe of Japan and Spanish side Real Union who Unai Emery also has shares in.
Frustrations bubbled over when the owners had to reduce their stake in the Portuguese outfit to comply with all Uefa regulations [BBC Sport].

When this is taken into account, it is little surprise that the Villans would be keen on these associated party transaction rules being changed.
