Aston Villa success story on cards after Douglas Luiz transfer news
Aston Villa would internally celebrate a success story if Douglas Luiz was to re-sign for the club in January, Dan Plumley has said.
The Villans were clear that the sale of the Brazilian over the summer helped them avoid a PSR breach, but he has already been linked with a return [Calciomercato].
Plumley, a football finance expert, admitted that the regulatory framework played a big part in the transfer saga, but could also be used in their favour.
“It’s a smart strategy to look at how you’re positioned against the regulations,” he exclusively told Villa News.
“You could sometimes work that in your favour, so if it does work out like that then you would look at it and say it may have been a little bit pre-meditated because of the situation as well.
“I think it’s an interesting one as we’re talking about these things because of the regulatory framework effectively, and in a world where there isn’t that regulation, Villa don’t need to do that.
Douglas Luiz to sign for Aston Villa?
“What they have done though, is seen where they’ve got some problems, they’ve been very vocal about that sale helping them out with PSR calculations, and I’m sure internally, if they did manage to bring him back on loan, that would be a success story for them and they’ve handled that situation.”

Unai Emery has continued his success at Aston Villa without Luiz, both in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
Amadou Onana has proven to be a worthy replacement since signing from Everton, and that could shut the door on this one before January even comes around.
In other Aston Villa news, Dan Bardell has described fan discontent as “disrespectful” to Unai Emery.
