Myles Sohna announces retirement after what happened at Aston Villa
Aston Villa youngster Myles Sohna has announced his early retirement from football due to frequent knee injuries.
The 22-year-old shared the decision to end his football career via Instagram on 16 November after suffering ACL ruptures in back-to-back seasons.
Surgery to deal with a separate knee issue proved to be ineffective which has led the defender to put his health first and call time on his 12-year spell with the Villans.
In his statement, he said: “I want to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support throughout my footballing career and also my past teammates and staff at Aston Villa FC for making my 12 years there so special. I made memories there that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”

The youngster has been an everpresent across the age levels at Bodymoor Heath for over ten years so it will come as a blow to see him retire.
It is never nice to see a player end their career due to injury, even more so when it is a young player who hasn’t had a chance to forge a path in the game.
The academy product has suffered injury after injury and unfortunately, at some point, health and wellbeing have to come first ahead of a career.
There could be opportunities for Sohna to have some involvement in the club with opportunities sometimes handed out in the academy set-up.

This has been shown by Marc Albrighton’s return to the club after announcing his retirement from football.
It is unclear where his future may lie but in this sad time, there is support from former teammates with the likes of Tim Iroegbunam and Cameron Archer sending well wishes.
