Louie Barry transfer mooted again after ‘impossible’ Aston Villa developments

Dan Bardell has mooted another loan spell for Louie Barry in a jump to the Championship with little chance of featuring at Aston Villa soon.

The 21-year-old has shone brightly in League One this season, scoring 10 and assisting one across his opening 14 starts for Stockport.

This is an excellent return in his second spell with the Hatters which has seen some supporters urge Unai Emery to recall him and hand him a chance in the Villans’ first team.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks this would be too much for the versatile forward, mooting a second-tier loan before a Villa Park return.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think it’s a step too far, he’s probably not going to make it at this point.

The problem for young players is that Villa have developed so fast in the last 12 months, it’s basically impossible to break through unless you’re a really top draw talent.

The players who were involved in that FA Youth Cup, I think the ship has sailed.

I don’t see Barry being recalled, he could be a Premier League player, I just don’t see that with Villa.

Maybe a loan in the Championship, that would be more sensible. I could see a world where that happens to allow him to develop at a higher level.

Louie Barry Aston Villa return unlikely in transfer admission

Under Emery, the Villans have been boosted from a mid-table Premier League side to genuine top-four challengers and Champions League qualification.

This makes it hard for young players to join up with the first team with Barry falling victim to this success as much as anyone else.

The ex-Barcelona youngster has been arguably the best player in League One this campaign, showing off the attacking talents which could be useful in his parent club’s side right now.

Despite scoring just three goals in the last five games in all competitions, it doesn’t appear like Barry is going to be recalled with another loan move away from B6 feeling likely in the future.
