Ross Barkley injury news emerges ahead of Aston Villa v Crystal Palace

Aston Villa attacking midfielder Ross Barkley is not expected to play the full 90 minutes v Crystal Palace due to his recent injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that while he’s expected to be back in full first-team training by the middle of next week, playing the full 90 minutes is a step too soon.

Unai Emery’s side take on Crystal Palace at Villa Park on 23 November in the Premier League.

Speaking about this situation, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News: “I reckon he’s back in training by the middle of next week or so if Emery’s timeline holds true of him being out for a couple of weeks.

Not much information here other than a small injury so it’s difficult to say what happened in terms of the intensity.

Whether or not he’s available for the game that weekend entirely depends on when he returns to training and what intensity he trains at.

It’s certain he will not play the full 90 minutes, however.”

Aston Villa will want to take it easy with Ross Barkley

It does not make sense to make Barkley play the 90 minutes right off the bat as it can increase the risk of re-injury.

The 30-year-old has made eight league appearances thus far this season, scoring one goal and providing an assist.

He’s also played three Champions League games and has been a regular off the bench for Emery’s side.
