Chelsea stance shared as Aston Villa eye loan-to-buy Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall transfer

Chelsea are willing to sanction a loan deal for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall with an obligation to purchase if Aston Villa meet their valuation, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday [12 November] via its website that the stance has alerted Unai Emery’s interest and the Villains are negotiating for a January transfer.

Dewsbury-Hall followed Enzo Maresca to Stamford Bridge from Leicester City in the summer but the midfielder has since fallen out of favour and Chelsea are now looking to recoup the £30m outlay on his acquisition.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall would be a smart signing for Aston Villa

The 26-year-old took a massive risk signing for Chelsea and turning down regular first-team football with the Foxes in the Premier League.

While he should not feel shame for how the situation has panned out in West London, in retrospect it was a short-sighted move for Dewsbury-Hall to join the most inflated squad in the top flight.

However, Villa have spotted an opportunity to hand the midfielder a second chance and freshen up the midfield options after a surprising downturn in form.

The 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Saturday [9 November] marked a five-match winless run across all competitions and a fourth consecutive defeat.

Emery will be somewhat thankful for the international break and can use the two-week respite from club football to assess and rectify the situation heading into a pivotal period leading up to the New Year.

Furthermore, summer signing Amadou Onana has been urged to show more at Villa Park after a string of inconsistent performances whereas Youri Tielemans has seen his priorities brought into question as he refused to rule out a move to a “big club” in the future.

Perhaps therein lies the problem at Villa – the club has enjoyed a remarkable resurgence under Emery, attracting the attention of the European elite which in turn – makes the potential signing of Dewsbury-Hall all the more attractive as he would be eager to make his mark in Birmingham.

Monchi, of course, will need to broker a purchase clause that is financially viable for the club but should he do so, Dewsbury-Hall has all the makings to become an instant success at Villa Park.
