Aston Villa ‘in the race’ for Boca Juniors star Kevin Zenón as transfer demands emerge

Bryan King believes Aston Villa are “in the race” for Boca Juniors ace Kevin Zenón.

The ex-Villa scout claims it is important for a football club to listen to their manager when it comes to transfers.

As reported by CaughtOffside (5 November), Unai Emery is “particularly keen” to add a player of Zenón’s versatility to his squad.

Therefore, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks it is important that the West Midlands club try to sign the 23-year-old.

“Of course, it is important that the club support the manager,” King said.

“There are a lot of clubs that don’t allow the manager to do the work he should be doing as a manager. Sporting directors will sign players and present them to managers.

“That kind of stuff has to stop. The manager is the one who needs to work with the player.

“Therefore, if he isn’t happy with the player, then you need to listen to him. However, if this is a player that interests Emery, then Villa will be in the race for him.”

Aston Villa to sign Boca Juniors ace Kevin Zenón for Unai Emery?

Emery has worked wonders since arriving at Villa Park and has committed his long-term future to the club.

Therefore, the least that the club’s board can do in return is sign the players that Emery wants signed.

Zenón won’t cost much either. Therefore, there is no reason why the club shouldn’t go all out to try and sign the left-sided player.

Tottenham and Newcastle United are both also interested, which could make things difficult. However, as long as Villa do everything in their power to sign Zenón, then Emery can have no complaints.
