Arsenal stance on Jhon Duran transfer shared amid Aston Villa exit links
Arsenal have denied suggestions they have made a fresh transfer offer for Aston Villa star Jhon Duran, according to Graeme Bailey.
The journalist reported via TBR Football (8 November) that while the Gunners were keeping an eye on the striker’s situation at Villa Park this summer, no genuine proposals were submitted for his services.
Villa were looking for a fee upwards of £50million for the Colombian international’s services during the summer window, amid interest from both Chelsea and West Ham United who both saw offers turned down.
So far this term, Duran has scored four Premier League goals in 10 appearances, all of which have come from the bench.
Will Jhon Duran exit Aston Villa amid Villa Park and Arsenal transfer rumours?
He may not have established himself as a regular starter yet at Villa Park, but it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to suggest Duran is one of the most exciting talents at Unai Emery’s disposal currently.
The Colombian forward has provided some genuine competition for Ollie Watkins at the top end of the pitch, delivering both in Europe and the Premier League to add a new threat to the Villans in an attacking sense.
Of course, he is still only young and there are some aspects of his game which remain incredibly raw but having put pen to paper on a new contract to extend his stay at Villa Park earlier this season, he won’t be going anywhere unless Villa pocket a huge transfer fee.

Arsenal may well be capable of paying that sort of figure, however, it doesn’t seem as though their interest has progressed since the summer. That could change when January rolls around, but that doesn’t mean Emery will have to sanction his exit.
Ultimately, the power now lies with Villa rather than Duran himself. Unless a club matches Emery’s side’s £50million-plus asking price, the striker won’t be going anywhere either in January or this summer.
