Harry Redknapp stunned by Aston Villa incident, predicts result v Liverpool

Harry Redknapp is stunned at the manner of defeat Aston Villa faced against Club Brugge and believes Unai Emery’s team will lose again to Liverpool.

The Villans took on the Belgian outfit away from home on 6 November in the Champions League and lost 1-0 as Hans Vanaken found the back of the net from the spot after Mings was penalised for picking up the ball after a goal kick.

Arne Slot’s team are next up for the Lions on 9 November at Anfield in the league, and speaking to BetVictor [8 November], Redknapp believes the Villa Park faithful are in for another disappointment.

“Liverpool 3-1 Aston Villa,” he predicted.

“Wow, what a game on Saturday night. Liverpool keep winning and getting the job done under Arne Slot, I’ve been very impressed. They were superb against Bayer Leverkusen the other day, they’ll come into this one in a great frame of mind.

“Aston Villa aren’t at their best right now and obviously they arrive at this one fresh off that defeat away to Club Brugge. Speaking of that defeat, that’s one of the strangest penalty decisions I’ve seen, imagine losing a game because of that!

“I just think Liverpool will have too much quality. Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Luis Diaz, these guys are all in very good form.

“One to watch – What a finish that was from Mohamed Salah against Brighton, absolutely world-class.”

Aston Villa need to bounce back against Liverpool

Having weathered the storm at the start of the season, beating teams like Bayern Munich and taking points away from Manchester United, Emery’s team have slipped up in recent fixtures.

The draw against Bournemouth, followed by the 4-1 loss to Tottenham in the Premier League on 3 November, has brought the club’s rivals in the top four race closer.

What happened in Bruges was bizarre, and Mings knows he was wrong when he picked up the ball after Emi Martinez had started the play.

To get back to winning ways, the Villans have a mammoth task ahead as Liverpool are on a 12-game unbeaten run in all competitions.

The Reds are coming off a 4-0 victory against Bayer Leverkusen at home in the UCL, and spirits seem to be at an all-time high at Anfield.

In stark contrast, the Lions look low on confidence, and with the international break coming up, the team needs to perform well against the Merseysiders to ease some pressure.
