Aston Villa boost as Premier League winner returns to Villa Park – ‘I love stuff like this’
Dan Bardell believes Marc Albrighton will be a role model on his Aston Villa return as an academy coach and will provide a boost for young players.
The former Villa winger has returned “home” to B6 as a part-time coach after announcing retirement from his playing career in August [John Percy].
This represents a return to his boyhood club for the 34-year-old who departed for Leicester City ten years ago.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell was excited by the news and believes his story will inspire the young players at Bodymoor Heath moving forward.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I love stuff like this.
“Albrighton obviously has had an excellent career and although some of that wasn’t at Villa, for a player to come through the academy and have the career that he did, that’s a success story.
“It’s good to have people who have made that journey as part of the set-up when they’ve finished playing.
“He’s got his own coaching school, so grassroots is obviously something he’s passionate about.
“He is someone for young players to look up to, they’ll know he’s won the Premier League and the journey he went on. I think it’s a good thing, he’s a good professional, he’s a good character and someone who will work hard.“
Marc Albrighton returns to Aston Villa as youth coach
Villa have a whole host of young talents at their disposal but it is the likes of Kadan Young and Ben Broggio who will be most excited about Albrighton’s return.
The wideman made a name for himself for the Villans before joining Leicester on a free, where he went on to win a Premier League and an FA Cup.
The academy players at the club right now would do well to even come close to what their new coach did and that experience should reflect well on the players moving forward.

It is positive to see the club interacting in this fashion with former players in a situation which should only benefit everyone involved at Bodymoor.
