Leon Bailey ‘run of productivity’ mooted at Aston Villa ahead of Club Brugge clash
Dan Bardell believes if Leon Bailey scores for Aston Villa against Club Brugge he could go on a goalscoring run in the coming weeks.
The Jamaica international is yet to get on the scoresheet for the Villans this season in what has been a disappointing opening 13 appearances.
This has come as a surprise to Unai Emery and Co. after he scored 14 and assisted 14 across 52 appearances in all competitions.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell can see the 27-year-old going on a positive run if he gets on the scoresheet in the Champions League against Club Brugge (6 November).
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “In fairness, he hasn’t been playing well but he has still popped up with a couple of assists.
“He obviously got the assist against Bournemouth and I think he just needs a goal.
“You see him snapping at chances a bit at the moment and I thought that the Palace game was going to be the one where he got that goal and back to business.
“Once something goes in for him I do think he’ll go on a run of productivity and we’re just waiting for that first one and it could come against Brugge.
“I think that will give him some confidence and get him going again. He was so good last season and it’s a real shame that he hasn’t started the season so well.“
Leon Bailey productive run mooted at Aston Villa before Club Brugge clash
The winger was one of the standout players at Villa Park last campaign and he was one of the best players under Emery as Champions League qualification was secured.
His form hasn’t followed into the new season which has seen fans be left frustrated by his most recent performances.
It is clear that the ex-Bayer Leverkusen man has quality but he has somewhat been outshined by Morgan Rogers who has taken up Moussa Diaby’s role in the side.

The clash against Club Brugge could hand Bailey the perfect opportunity to right any wrongs from the season so far and prove any doubters wrong.
