Agbonlahor hits back at ‘alarm bells’ claim at Aston Villa live on talkSPORT
Gabby Agbonlahor has hit back at Andy Goldstein live on talkSPORT after suggesting “alarm bells” could now be ringing at Aston Villa.
The Villans face Club Brugge on Wednesday 6 November as they look to bounce back from a disappointing 4-1 defeat against Tottenham last time out.
This result has left Unai Emery’s side with just one Premier League win in their last five games which has seen Goldstein question if questions are now being asked at Villa Park.
Speaking live on talkSPORT on 5 November (05:43pm), he said: “The wheels have fallen off for them a bit in the Premier League, they’re outside the top six, there’s even sides like Forest ahead. One win in five as well, you got smashed against Spurs at the weekend. What’s happened? Alarm bells yet or not?”
ex-Villa star Agbonlahor replied: “Not for me, we’re actually joint fourth position, we’re on the same points as Arsenal, same points as Chelsea.
“The Bournemouth game killed us, conceding that last minute goal when they dominated so much, that would have been so frustrating for the players and manager. Listen, we’re in sixth position in the league and we’re top of the Champions League.
“Maybe the expectations can get a bit ahead of the fan base, but it is a long season. Tottenham beat us last season at Villa Park, who got Champions League qualification? Aston Villa.”

It was an uncharacteristic performance from the Villans in North London which started well with Morgan Rogers getting on the scoresheet.
The first half performance was generally positive but Spurs came out for the second half and took control before eventually securing an easy win.
This was the first truly poor result of the season for Emery who typically doesn’t allow these sorts of defeats to happen, especially away from home.
Luckily for the Spaniard, his side have a game within just three days to allow them to come return and look to get back to winning ways.

Brugge have won just one game so far this season in the Champions League and represents an opportunity for Villa to make it four wins from four in Europe’s elite competition.
This would be a huge plus point for the season so far and as a result, there is no reason for fans to get too caught up in any negativity.
