Unai Emery rightly furious at Pau Torres after what happened in Aston Villa loss v Tottenham
Unai Emery will be raging at Pau Torres as his error passing out from the back helped Tottenham secure a 4-1 over Aston Villa.
After a shocking second-half performance, the Villans fell to a hammering at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (3 November).
Despite going in at half time 1-0 up thanks to Morgan Rogers, the away side collapsed after the interval, conceding four with the final three coming in the space of 21 minutes.
Torres has to take the blame for at least one of those goals and that will rightly leave Emery fuming at the centre-back.
Pau Torres has Aston Villa howler v Tottenham
The Spain international has typically been such a classy operator in claret and blue, with his passing being his key attribute and something that separates him from other defenders at the club.
With that being said, the 27-year-old did little to show this ability off in North London as he contributed negatively to a 4-1 defeat.
This saw him put up a pass completion rate of 82 per cent across his 50 attempts [FotMob], which is uncharacteristically low by his usual standards.
Indeed, his pass completion rate in the Premier League over the past 12 months stands at 87%, as per FBref.
With one mistake leading to a goal and a telling lack of physicality contributing to another, it was far from a positive defensive showing in that sense.
There were some plus points to his performance at the back as he won one tackle while also making four clearances and winning five ground duels.

This is where any silver linings end as his aerial presence was also questionable, maintaining a zero per cent win rate up against the likes of Dominic Solanke and Dejan Kulusevski.
It was a bad day at the office for almost all of the Villans’ squad, but Torres arguably struggled the most in a bitterly disappointing afternoon in North London.
