Aston Villa coup as ‘massive asset’ agrees Villa Park return

Ty Bracey believes Marc Albrighton will be a “massive asset” for young players at Aston Villa after agreeing to return to Villa Park as an academy coach.

The 34-year-old retired from his playing career in August and will now take up a role as a part-time coach at Bodymoor Heath to “gain experience” [John Percy].

The winger left the Villans in 2014 on a free transfer to join Leicester City, with whom he won the Premier League title, and he now looks set to return “home” to Villa Park.

Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, was delighted with the news of Albrighton’s return and hopes he can transition to a full-time role in the future.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “I’m over the moon for him that he’s going to be starting his coaching journey with the club he loves.

He had a great career as a player so I’m hopeful it will become a full-time role with the wealth of experience that he has.

He’s got lots of knowledge so he’ll be a massive asset to the younger players. I think it is great, I really do, and I hope that he sticks around for the long run.

Marc Albrighton to return to Aston Villa as coach

The academy product was a well-loved figure at Villa Park despite having issues in his time with the club, especially under Paul Lambert.

The winger has some iconic moments in claret and blue such as his assist in the win against Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea or him scoring the 20,000th Premier League goal.

His crowing career moment is obviously winning the Premier League, which is such a positive experience to be able to pass down to youngsters at Bodymoor Heath.
