Unai Emery delivers Morgan Rogers injury update as ‘key’ Aston Villa admission emerges

Bryan King is hopeful that Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers’ injury isn’t anything too serious.

The ex-Villa scout has described the England youth international as a “key player for the club.”

Rogers hobbled off during the second-half as Villa were thrashed 4-1 in the Premier League at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (3 November).

However, speaking after the match, Emery sounded optimistic about the 22-year-old. The Villa boss said (via Birmingham Live, 3 November), “I think Morgan will be ok because he wanted to carry on. I decided to play some minutes with two strikers.”

And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has detailed just how important Rogers is.

“I’d hope the injury is nothing serious,” King said.

“They have a UEFA Champions League game midweek, another Premier League game at the weekend. Rogers is a player who you don’t want to have missing.

“He is a key player for the club. It seems like this substitution was a precautionary one. Although Rogers might think he was okay, he doesn’t want to fall into the trap of continuing and then aggravating an injury.

“If it is the manager’s decision, then you accept it.”

Unai Emery optimistic despite Morgan Rogers injury at Aston Villa

Supporters will be pleased to hear Emery’s optimism over Rogers on a day to forget for the Villans.

Despite the defeat, Rogers was once again among the goals, as the exciting talent continues to establish himself in Emery’s squad. Therefore, Villa fans won’t want to see his progress derailed by an injury.

And Emery will need the player available as the games continue to come thick and fast.

With back-to-back away matches coming up against Club Brugge in the Champions League at the Jan Breydel Stadium (6 November) and Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield (9 November), Emery will need Rogers.

As a result, Villa fans will be keeping their fingers crossed for some positive injury news in the coming days.
