Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran hit with hefty punishment as details shared

Jhon Duran has been forced to pay a bill of approximately £15,000 due to damage caused to a rental property during his first season at Aston Villa, according to the Daily Mail.

The news outlet reported on Thursday [31 October] that the landlord for the property in Shenstone, a village near Lichfield, submitted the compensation claim after reviewing the damage.

Aston Villa sent a club representative to inspect the property and the situation has since been resolved, with Duran paying for the “hefty” damages.

Jhon Duran must focus on his football at Aston Villa

The Colombian has endured his fair share of the limelight in the past few months, as he moved past the drama of the summer transfer window to produce sensational performances for Aston Villa this season.

While Duran continues to be linked with a move away from Villa Park, this is expected considering he is still struggling to displace Ollie Watkins as the spearhead of the attack, despite scoring eight goals across all competitions, three more than the English forward.

It is easy to forget amid all the attention on the Colombian forward, he is still only 20 years old and is at the beginning of what is set to be a promising career at the top of the game.

He will surely now be settled to life in the Midlands with a home of his own but still, showcasing disruptive behaviour off the pitch will only harm his chances of a first team resurgence under Unai Emery.

Mario Balotelli, albeit an extreme example, is arguably one of the biggest wasted talents of the modern era. He failed to get a lid on his destructive behaviour off the pitch, ruining a career that showed so much potential in his early years.

Duran is not expected to follow in the footsteps of the former Manchester City and Liverpool forward. However, he must direct all his attention on continuing his incredible goal-scoring form at Villa Park and do the impossible of replacing Watkins as the undisputed number nine for Aston Villa.
