Unai Emery contract claim made at Aston Villa amid laughable Manchester United development

Dan Bardell doesn’t think Unai Emery would consider a move from Aston Villa to Manchester United after the sacking of Erik Ten Hag.

The Red Devils confirmed that the Dutchman had departed Old Trafford on Monday (28 October) [manutd.com] with the search for a replacement underway.

There have been calls for Emery to be considered as a replacement, with Paul Scholes suggesting the Villa boss would “walk to Manchester” if offered the job [talkSPORT].

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell described that suggestion as “laughable”, claiming that the Spaniard wouldn’t consider a move away from Villa Park.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “If you got in a time machine and went back to the 90s and 2000s, I think Emery might have been tempted to go to Man United from Villa.

We’re not in that era now. With the way that Villa are as a football club compared to how Man United are, there is absolutely no chance that Emery would even think about leaving to join Manchester United.

I think Villa are secure. They’ve got Emery for the duration of his contract and he’s got everything that he would want. The whole club is built around him. He wouldn’t get that at other football clubs, especially not Man United.

It is laughable that they think they are enough of a draw to get Emery. He wouldn’t touch them with a bargepole and I’m absolutely certain of that.

Unai Emery to reject Manchester United move for Aston Villa

Emery has done so much in B6 in such a short time, it would be a bizarre move for him to depart for Old Trafford at this stage.

The ex-Villarreal boss has taken the club from being near the relegation places to top of the Champions League table in a little over two years.

As a result, it is little wonder that the Red Devils may be interested in bringing him in but Villa fans will be hopeful any approaches wouldn’t be taken seriously.

With the Villans owning shares in his club Real Union and all his staff including the likes of Monchi at the club, there is no reason for him to go anywhere, especially not Manchester United.
