Lamare Bogarde set for Aston Villa shot v Crystal Palace as selection verdict shared

Dan Bardell believes rarely-seen Lamare Bogarde and Ben Broggio could feature for Aston Villa against Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup.

The Villans are preparing to welcome the Eagles to Villa Park on Wednesday (30 October), with rotation likely to be utilised by Unai Emery.

This comes after already playing five fixtures in October as the Spaniard looks to keep his squad fresh and hand opportunities to fringe and young players.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Bogarde could start while Broggio could be handed a chance off the bench once again.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “There will be some young players on the bench – I don’t really expect any of them to start other than Bogarde.

I wouldn’t expect many to be in from the start but there will be a selection of them on the bench and I’d imagine they’ll get some minutes again.

Ben Broggio came on in the last round and has had a great few weeks, scoring two in the UEFA Youth League, so I would expect him to be awarded with some minutes and a Villa Park debut.

He’s turning into a really exciting player so I would expect to see him off the bench at some point.

Broggio has been one of the best players in the Villans’ Under-21s set-up this campaign, which makes a first-team opportunity feel like an eventuality.

Bogarde has already been handed that chance this campaign after already making four appearances in the Premier League and EFL Cup.
