Aston Villa to receive global exposure boost after prominent figure spotted at Villa Park

Prince William’s attendance at Aston Villa matches this season will have given the Villans a “global” exposure boost, according to football finance expert Dan Plumley.

The British monarch, who is the son of King Charles III, is a Villa fan and has been spotted at several of Unai Emery’s side’s matches this term, including the impressive Champions League with over Bayern Munich.

Although the prince’s attendance at Villa Park will do little to benefit Emery’s side in the United Kingdom, Plumley insists that 42-year-old’s attendance at matches will help Villa attract an audience further afield.

“It’s always nice to have a celebrity fan, isn’t it?” Plumley exclusively told Villa News.

“It can be even better in certain parts of the world to have a royal celebrity fan. From an exposure piece, it can benefit Villa for sure.”

Plumley added: “We can’t ignore that, but I think it’s probably more of a global positive and a global reach that you’re looking at. I think in the UK, it won’t necessarily make too much of a difference.

“You’re looking at the global exposure that it brings you and of course, it’s a good association to have and I’m sure the club have leveraged that in the past and will look to leverage it in the future.

“But the exposure piece for me would be more global than local.”

Villa have well and truly been put back on the map over the last few seasons, largely because of Emery’s impressive work during his tenure in charge at Villa Park.

While competing in the Champions League has major financial benefits for the football club, it also draws new eyes to the Villans which can only be a good thing as they look to establish themselves at the top of the Premier League.

With PSR concerns as they are currently in English football, clubs are always looking for ways to boost their marketability and revenue and while Price William’s attendance is unlikely to have a major impact, it is another welcome boost.
