Unai Emery set to make Ben Broggio decision for Aston Villa v Crystal Palace
Unai Emery could hand Ben Broggio a full debut for Aston Villa against Crystal Palace after his goalscoring exploits for the Under-21s.
The Villans welcome Oliver Glasner’s side to Villa Park on Wednesday (30 October), with both sides keen on securing a spot in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.
Emery has already shown his willingness to rely on his fringe and academy players in the competition after making 10 changes in the last round against Wycombe Wanderers.
With that being said, Broggio may be hopeful of securing his first start for the men’s side against the Eagles.
Ben Broggio could start for Aston Villa v Crystal Palace
The 17-year-old has had an electric start to the season for the Under-21s side, catching the eye of plenty of Villa supporters.
This has seen him register two goals in the opening three games of the UEFA Youth League, shining in the win against Bologna at Bodymoor Heath.
The winger has also shown his quality in the Premier League 2 against some of the best youth sides in the country, scoring three and assisting one despite making just four starts.
Broggio even has had experience of men’s football for the first time, featuring against Wycombe Wanderers for the men’s side and against Fleetwood Town in the EFL Trophy.

It is clear that Emery and Co. hold the youngster in high esteem and that could put him in a good place to potentially start or at least feature against Crystal Palace.
Although the Spaniard will be keen on winning a trophy with the Villans, giving young players like the winger a chance from the start is always a positive.
And that chance may arise in the all-Premier League showdown with Palace.
