Jeff Stelling says Aston Villa can win Champions League, Ally McCoist couldn’t agree more
Jeff Stelling and Ally McCoist have not ruled Aston Villa out of winning the Champions League while discussing their chances.
Unai Emery’s side are currently sitting atop the Champions League table, flourishing in the league’s new format, taking nine points from their first three games of the campaign.
These wins have included impressive home performances against Bayern Munich and Bologna and an away win against Young Boys, even keeping a clean sheet in each of these clashes.
Speaking live via talkSPORT on Tuesday (29 October, 9:27am), Stelling said: “Villa are at the top of the Champions League table, albeit very early on. They’ve won the European Cup before.
“Is there any reason why Aston Villa can’t win the Champions League? Leicester City won the Premier League. Why, at some stage, can’t Villa win it? Nothing is impossible. At the moment, they’re a heck of a lot more likely to win it than Man United.”
McCoist added: “Of course, they are. No doubt about it.”
Can Aston Villa dream of winning the Champions League?
Football is a wonderful sport, where teams and players can dream of winning any competition, whether that be at club level or on the international stage.
The Villans have already proven themselves against one of the big hitters in the Champions League, with a Jhon Duran rocket being the difference between them and Bayern.
The club have already come on leaps and bounds since Emery’s arrival in October 2022, with qualifying for the Champions League the most impressive of his feats so far.

As well as topping the Champions League table, the Villans have maintained their fourth-place spot in the Premier League despite several extra games and a plethora of injuries to deal with.
Club Brugge are their next opponents, and if Emery’s side can take all three points back to Villa Park, they will be able to face Serie A giants Juventus with a lot of confidence.
