Dan Bardell makes ‘disrespectful’ Aston Villa claim after Paul Scholes comment
Dan Bardell has labelled Paul Scholes’ comments regarding Unai Emery leaving Aston Villa as “disrespectful” to both the Spaniard and the club.
Following their defeat to West Ham, Manchester United opted to sack Erik Ten Hag for a dismal start to the season, leading to Scholes claiming Emery would “walk to Manchester” if offered the job. (talkSPORT, 28 October).
The claims were quickly shut down by Bardell who labelled his comments as “disrespectful” in a post on his X account (28 October).
The post reads: “The clocks went back on Sunday, Paul Scholes, however they didn’t go back 2 years.
“Unai Emery doesn’t leave Aston Villa for Manchester United and that’s a fact and to say he’d walk there is laughable and disrespectful to Villa and Emery.”
Unai Emery will not leave Aston Villa
While it’s impossible to say with 100 per cent certainty, it’s very difficult to see any scenario in the near future that leads to Emery leaving Villa.
The former Arsenal boss has thrived at Villa Park and looks well set to have another successful season.
Villa currently sit top of the standings in the Champions League and occupy fourth place in the Premier League having lost just one of their opening nine fixtures.
Emery has been a dream appointment for the Villans and everyone at the club appears to be enjoying life under his stewardship.
Players such as Jhon Duran and Morgan Rogers are playing at the top of their ability alongside other players who have seen a massive increase in performance levels since Emery’s arrival in October 2022.
Manchester United on the other hand, look nowhere near capable of competing at the level Villa currently are and it just wouldn’t make much sense for Emery to leave the project he has worked so hard to build just to leave for a club in dismay.
In other Aston Villa news, Bryan King expects Jhon Duran to start for Aston Villa against Crystal Palace in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Villa Park on Wednesday (30 October).
