Aston Villa v Crystal Palace preview: Team news, head-to-head, betting odds, prediction
Aston Villa will look to book their place in the EFL Cup quarter-finals as they welcome Crystal Palace to Villa Park on Wednesday (30 October).
Unai Emery will be keen to come away from the clash against the Eagles with a win as he looks to continue his mission to bring a trophy back to B6.
Preview
The Villans suffered a blow against Bournemouth last time out in the Premier League as a late Evanilson header stole a win away as the points were shared.
This shouldn’t be a knock to confidence at Villa Park, though, as the Villans continued their unbeaten run to 11 games in all competitions and Emery will want that to continue.
A win in the fourth round against Wycombe Wanderers set up a tie with Palace who have had a difficult start to the season under Oliver Glasner.
With one win in their last five games, the Eagles will also be keen to build up a run of positive results after beating Tottenham 1-0 in their last game.
As a result, it is set to be an interesting clash in the Midlands as both sides look to confirm their place in the next round.

Team News
The Villans have a fully fit squad with Jaden Philogene set to return to the fold after missing the Bournemouth clash due to suspension.
Things couldn’t be much different for Crystal Palace, who could have seven players missing the EFL Cup clash through injury.
Jefferson Lerma and Ismaila Sarr are doubtful while Cheick Doucoure, Rob Holding, Chris Richards, Chadi Riad and Matheus Franca are set to miss out through injury.
This could make Glasner’s team selection much more difficult than Emery’s, who has plenty of different options to choose from.
Predicted Lineups
Aston Villa: Olsen, Maatsen, Carlos, Konsa, Cash, Kamara, Barkley, Ramsey, Buendia, Philogene, Duran
Crystal Palace: Turner, Mitchell, Guehi, Lacroix, Chalobah, Clyne, Hughes, Wharton, Kamada, Eze, Nketiah
Betting Odds
Aston Villa– 9/10
Draw– 5/2
Crystal Palace– 31/10
Prediction: Aston Villa 3-1 Crystal Palace
It is difficult to predict how this cup clash will go given that the Eagles will likely have near enough their first full team playing at Villa Park.
With that being said, Emery will be desperate to secure a win and a place in the next round and move a step closer to a trip to Wembley.
The qualities of the likes of Duran, Buendia and Ramsey could prove to be too much for the Palace backline going forward.

Although if Olsen is in goal, it could prove to be an interesting night at B6 for the Villa defence and the Eagles’ attack.
