O’Hara and Cundy react to Aston Villa controversy v Bournemouth – ‘Let it go’

Jamie O’Hara and Jason Cundy have urged Aston Villa fans to “let it go” after John McGinn had a goal disallowed against Bournemouth.

The Villans suffered a late blow at Villa Park on 26 October as Evanilson secured a point with the last kick of the game in a 1-1 draw.

Things could have been different for Unai Emery’s side after Ollie Watkins was adjudged to have not kept the ball in play before the Scotland international curled home an excellent strike.

One fan called into talkSPORT (26 October, 7:15pm) to complain about the decision but O’Hara disagreed with his opinion.

He said: “It’s out. Come on mate, it’s miles out.”

Cundy shared the same view as he added: “Let it go mate, let it go.”

It was a strange afternoon at Villa Park where it felt as if neither side truly deserved to win despite the Villans forcing Mark Travers into multiple top-class saves.

Although it took until the 76th minute for them to take the lead through Ross Barkley, it could have been so different.

McGinn scored an excellent goal which was ruled out by VAR but supporters aren’t sure that it was a fair decision given how inconclusive it was.

With that being said, O’Hara and Cundy were dead set on this being the right decision by the officials.

The argument is that the on-field officials gave the goal and the footage replayed by VAR couldn’t prove for definite that the ball was out.

This wouldn’t matter so much if Villa hadn’t conceded a last-minute equaliser but the decision has ultimately stopped them from taking away all three points.

On another day decisions go for Emery’s side and a win is secured but with decisions going the way of Leon Bailey and Matty Cash, there is positives to take.
