How much money Aston Villa make each Champions League matchday revealed
Aston Villa are making £1.8million for each league phase win in the Champions League, John Townley reports.
Birmingham Live’s Villa correspondent posted on X [23 October] with the figures acquired for each result in Europe’s elite competition, in which the Villans compete for the first time in its current format.
Three wins for Unai Emery’s side have collectively banked the club £5.4m, with five league phase fixtures still to play up until January.
Clubs earn £590,000 just for a draw, with Townley pointing out the Villans could earn up to an additional £9m from results alone before the knockout phase even begins.
Aston Villa cashing in from Champions League
Aston Villa are having the time of their lives, and Europe has been proven not to faze them.
Emery has steered his side to maximum points after nine games, with an opening round victory at Young Boys followed up with the iconic 1-0 win over Bayern Munich, and the dispatching of Bologna on Tuesday [22 October].
The controversy which has plagued Villa this season regarding their European exploits has been internally caused, with the club starting their ticket prices for non-season ticket holders at a gargantuan £85.
Back on the pitch, last season’s fourth-placed Premier League club are yet to concede in Europe, and Tuesday night’s results lifted them to the summit of all 36 competitors before several clubs including Liverpool also look to maintain a 100% record on Wednesday night.
Villa are also keeping stern pace on the domestic side, sitting in their familiar position of fourth, just four points adrift of table-toppers Liverpool.
The cash injection from the club’s positive Champions League results is a testament to the running of the club, and fans will be hoping it is invested into key areas.
