Ferran Torres stance on Barcelona exit emerges as Aston Villa eye January transfer
Ferran Torres is in no rush to leave Barcelona amid transfer interest from Aston Villa, according to Graeme Bailey.
The journalist reported via TBR Football on Wednesday (23 October) that Unai Emery’s side alongside both Arsenal and Newcastle United are keeping tabs on the Spanish international ahead of the January transfer window.
But the forward is expected to turn down any move away from the Nou Camp next year as he is willing to remain a squad player under Hansi Flick.
Villa will only pursue a move for Torres if they are given encouragement that he is ready and willing to make the move back to the Premier League, having previously featured for Manchester City.
Will Ferran Torres exit Barcelona amid Aston Villa transfer rumours?
After an impressive start to both their Premier League and Champions League campaigns, Emery and the recruitment team at Villa will be keen to bolster their attacking options ahead of the second half of the season.
On the face of it, Torres is an incredibly appealing option. While the Spanish international is unlikely to cost tens of millions of pounds, he has plenty of experience at the highest level and has won silverware with both Barcelona and City.
If the terms of a transfer were correct, he would be an excellent mid-season addition to Emery’s side, whether that be on a loan or permanent basis.

But Villa cannot force the winger to leave the European giants if he isn’t interested in moving back to the Premier League. Even if an agreement with Barcelona were to be reached, the transfer wouldn’t go ahead without Torres’ say-so.
If the former Manchester City man continues to be little more than a squad player between now and the turn of the new year, his stance on a potential transfer could well shift over the coming months.
For now, though at least, it seems unlikely he will be the latest addition to Emery’s attacking ranks when January rolls around.
