Emery will want Tyrone Mings back ASAP after what Pau Torres did in Aston Villa v Fulham
Unai Emery will want Tyrone Mings back as soon as possible after some shambolic defending from Pau Torres for Aston Villa against Fulham.
Despite going 1-0 down early on, on Saturday 19 October, the Villans fought back to secure a 3-1 win away at Craven Cottage.
Goals from Morgan Rogers and Ollie Watkins gave Villa the lead before an Issa Diop own goal took the game away from the Cottagers late on.
Despite taking three points in the end, Emery won’t be pleased with the way the opening goal was conceded with Torres at fault up against Raul Jimenez.
Pau Torres with poor defending against Fulham
It has to be said that the Villans have made a habit of conceding first and coming back from behind to win in the Premier League.
It was the same old story in West London but things could have been made so much easier if the Spain international was better and stronger early on.

The first mistake made by the 27-year-old came as he let the ball bounce while he backtracked towards his own goal with the ex-Wolves striker on his back.

Torres was then outmuscled and shoved aside in a sorry display which allowed the Mexico international to come inside and bare down on goal.

If this wasn’t bad enough, the Villa defender looked lethargic and lazy as he allowed the opposition forward to get a strike-off with little pressure, leaving Emi Martinez with no chance.
He has been criticised in the past for being somewhat lightweight but in this clash, he showed why supporters level this issue at him.

It has to be said that the centre back did well to recover after this moment and had some positive moments to keep the Villans ticking over.
This saw him take 57 touches of the ball which he utilised well to complete 43 passes with an 88 per cent success rate [FotMob], which is just typical of his game.
His long passing wasn’t quite as successful, maintaining an accuracy of just 33 per cent which is a letdown.
Torres lost four duels on the day while winning just three and this is where Emery will be keen to see Mings return to the squad sooner rather than later.
The England international’s physicality will be a useful asset which could potentially see the Spaniard dropped to the bench against stronger forwards who may cause him problems.
