Rory Wilson offered over £20,000-a-week to quit Aston Villa in latest Villa Park twist

Aston Villa look set to face competition for Rory Wilson with £20,000-a-week contracts to be offered from Europe, according to The Athletic.

The online outlet reported on 18 October that talks between the 18-year-old and the Villans have reached an impasse which will harm his chances of featuring in the first team under Unai Emery.

Villa’s hierarchy are refusing to break their academy wage structure for the Scotland Under-21 international amid interest from Europe.

There are “several admirers” from the continent who are prepared to offer first-team assurances and a wage of over £20k a week.

Rory Wilson could leave Aston Villa for Europe move

It is hard from a supporter’s perspective to understand why these contract sagas break down like they do, especially for an academy player.

Right now, Villa are one of the most exciting teams in Europe, playing Champions League football under one of the best managers in the Premier League.

As a result, there aren’t many better places to be playing football and learning your trade as a youngster.

This would point towards someone like Wilson putting pen to paper on a new deal with a view to potentially being the third-choice striker at the club.

Should injury strike Ollie Watkins or Jhon Duran, the Villans would be left light in the number nine position with the Scot as the next best option.

His chances have been scuppered by his reluctance to sign a new deal which saw him left out of the EFL Cup clash against Wycombe Wanderers.

If a move to Europe to secure a crazy £20k a week contract is the decision that the 18-year-old makes, Villa nor Emery will stand in his way as it makes his priorities clear to see.
