Aston Villa handed Pau Torres boost amid ‘great’ admission after what happened with Spain

Ty Bracey believes Pau Torres will get game time for Spain in the future but thinks it’s a boost for Aston Villa that he didn’t play in this international break.

The Villans have struggled with defensive injuries already this campaign with Ezri Konsa going off injured against Manchester United.

As a result, it would have been a blow to lose the 27-year-old but after playing zero minutes for his country in Nations League clashes against Denmark and Serbia, there was no concern of injury.

Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, thinks the Spaniard has to wait for his chance under Luis de la Fuente but for now, his omission for his nation is beneficial to Unai Emery.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “International breaks don’t necessarily mean minutes and the Spain squad is very competitive.

With the level, it’s the best of the best from each country and those things take time to earn.

Torres just needs to be patient before his time will come but I have no doubt that he is more than capable. He has been great for us and I think he’ll be great when he breaks into that team.

It’s good for Villa that it has happened, we don’t need more injuries so I’m glad that he’ll be fit and ready to go.

Pau Torres Spain omission benefits Aston Villa

The defender has become as key a player for the Villans as anyone which was proved with his assist and general performance against Bayern Munich.

His ability on the ball allows Emery to see his tactical approach play out which has helped Villa earn their place in the Champions League.

There is no doubt that he is deserving of a spot in the Spain starting XI but for now it appears he will have to wait for a chance for the European Champions.
