Aston Villa look set to profit amid £810m financial reveal

Aston Villa could be in line for a financial windfall with co-owner Nassef Sawiris enjoying a £810million increase to his fortune over the past 12 months.

The Birmingham Mail [17 October] reports Sawiris has seen his net worth increase to £7.28billion due to his investments, placing the Egyptian at 292nd on the Bloomberg billionaires list.

Villa have enjoyed a remarkable 12 months on the pitch coinciding with Sawiris’ net-worth increase, and Unai Emery’s men could reap the rewards of the increased fortune if the success continues at Villa Park.

Aston Villa could be handed a summer war chest at the end of the season should Emery replicate last year’s efforts in the Premier League.

The Forbes soccer valuations list for 2024 revealed the club’s valuation had increased by six per cent to £640m following a successful year of growth on and off the pitch.

Villa qualified for the Champions League for the first time in 40 years last term and Emery has enjoyed a stellar return to the competition, with his side winning both of their opening matches – including a 1-0 win against heavyweights Bayern Munich at Villa Park.

Sawiris and Wes Edens have already shown their commitment to the club this year, injecting £50m into the club [Kieran Maguire], and the investment is surely expected to continue to ensure Aston Villa remains a competitive force in the English top flight.

All is going according to plan in the Premier League thus far. The Villans sit in fifth place in the league, level on points with Chelsea in fourth, and look to have picked up right where they left off from last season.

The current side is more than capable of replicating another Champions League finish this season. However, two or three top-quality additions could take Aston Villa to the next level and Sawiris is now in a position to provide the financial muscle to provide Emery all he needs for long-term success.

In other Aston Villa news, the Villans have received a boost as an update on Tyrone Mings has been shared ahead of the clash against Fulham.
