Jhon Duran stance shared as Napoli eye transfer for Aston Villa striker

Jhon Duran is “eager for new challenges” as Napoli eye a move for the Aston Villa striker in the coming months, according to napolicalciolive.com (16 October).

The Serie A giants are looking to reinforce their attack, and the Colombian, who is also attracting interest from Arsenal the report states, has emerged as one of their targets.

Duran only signed a new deal at Villa Park until 2030 earlier this month, but Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is said to be ready to pursue a deal.

Aston Villa need to keep a hold of Jhon Duran

It is not surprising to see Duran considering his future at Villa, considering Unai Emery has not been generous with the opportunities he has afforded the striker.

The Colombian moved to the Villans in January 2023 and has since showcased his potential in the Claret and Blue.

However, Duran has tough competition to make a place for himself in the starting lineup, with Ollie Watkins firing on all cylinders in the last 18 months.

Despite the challenges, the Colombian has stepped up to the plate and has proven to be essential to the team with his goals in recent weeks.

Duran has scored six goals in 10 appearances in all competitions for Emery this season while being handed just one start against Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Cup.

Therefore, top teams wanting to get a hold of the 20-year-old’s signature is expected, even accounting for his recent new deal.

However, the Villans can’t let go of such an important asset, and given his age, Duran could be the first-choice number nine for years to come at the club.
