Aston Villa star Pau Torres has every right to be fuming after what happened with Spain
Aston Villa star Pau Torres has every right to be fuming with Luis de la Fuente after failing to feature in a single minute for Spain during the international break.
The Villans defender was once again called up to the European Champions’ squad for Nations League clashes against Denmark and Serbia.
This was the second time this season that the 27-year-old had joined up with his country after a stellar opening to the campaign at Villa Park.
With that being said, Torres is bound to be disappointed after being left out of both games, not registering a single minute on the international stage.
Aston Villa ace Pau Torres to be fuming after Spain snub
There is no doubt that ever since Unai Emery came through the doors in B6 the defender has been one of his go-to players.
The importance of Torres at the back allows Villa to build forward and form attacks from positions as deep as his own penalty area.
Performances from centre backs don’t get much better than the Spaniard’s showing against Bayern Munich in the Champions League on 2 October as the Villans won 1-0.
Jhon Duran grabbed the winner with an excellent goal, but the chance was provided by the quick thinking of the ex-Villareal man in the backline.

Two passes were into the final third with one garnering an assist which ultimately helped win the game for Emery and Co.
As well as his passing game, defensively Torres is solid which saw him win four tackles, maintaining a 100 per cent success rate while he also made three blocks, four clearances and one interception.
He was able to keep the likes of Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala quiet, attempting four ground duels and winning four with a 100 per cent of win.

By comparison, Daniel Vivian for Spain registered a 45 duel success rate against Serbia as Torres watched on from the bench [FotMob].
It is an insult to the Villa man that he is not at least getting some minutes on the international stage.
Even though his nation are the European champions, Torres is good enough to be playing and featuring regularly as the left centre back in de la Fuente’s side.
In other Aston Villa news, one ace has done very little to impress Unai Emery during the international break after being hooked early on in one clash.
