Bryan King doesn't believe there is any rush for Aston Villa to act despite transfer speculation surrounding Jacob Ramsey.

The ex-Villa scout is frustrated by assumptions that Unai Emery's side already need to consider offering the midfielder a new contract.

It comes after Give Me Sport reported (9 October) that Newcastle, Arsenal and Tottenham are all interested in Ramsey, who is valued at around £50million. Give Me Sport reports that Villa don't want to lose Ramsey for free in 2026 when his contract expires.

However, King - speaking exclusively to Villa News - still believes the ball is firmly in the club's court.

"He still has two years left on his contract with Villa," King said.

"There is no rush for the club to act, Ramsey is an Aston Villa player. This is what annoys me, people assume that Villa already need to act and offer him a new contract.

"He is under contract until 2026. Therefore, when Villa feel it necessary to take these offers or enquiries seriously, then I'm sure they will enter contract talks with Ramsey.

"However, until then, there are more important matters to consider."

Aston Villa to offer Jacob Ramsey a brand-new contract?

Ramsey is a talented, homegrown player with plenty of potential. Therefore, there is always going to be interest in the 23-year-old.

However, Villa still have him under contract until 2026. As a result, King is right to suggest that the pressure shouldn't be on the club or Emery.

Ramsey is a Villa player, and a key one at that, despite concerns continuing to be raised over his fitness and availability.

Villa still hold the cards and are still in control of Ramsey's future at this current moment. However, as time goes on, that power will slowly diminish, and the club will need to act.
