Marcus Rashford blasted for Manchester United amid ‘bottled’ controversy v Aston Villa
Dan Bardell believes Robert Jones got his decision wrong to not send off Marcus Rashford for Manchester United against Aston Villa.
The ex-England international picked up a yellow card just minutes before tripping Leon Bailey which many fans thought deserved a second booking.
It was clear what Erik ten Hag thought as the 26-year-old was hooked two minutes later to be replaced with Antony.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks that Jones got the decision wrong, the third time in three matches this has gone against the Villans.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I thought he was on it in the first half, United picked up a lot of cards and to be honest I think they were justified.
“In the second half, the referee bottled the big decision. It’s a second yellow for Rashford all day, it’s petulant and naïve at best when on a yellow card.
“It gave United the chance to pull him off before he got sent off.
“3rd game running where an opponent of Villa should have had a red card, these things make a difference.“
Marcus Rashford decision goes against Aston Villa v Manchester United
It is baffling to large numbers of Villa fans and general football supporters that the forward wasn’t handed his marching orders in B6.
Rashford’s second challenge was a deliberate trip on Bailey, even if his first booking for a foul on Matty Cash was potentially questionable.
This could have changed the complexion of the clash which eventually ended goalless at Villa Park.

The likes of Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers struggled to make anything happen going forward but if afforded the space that playing against 10 men would have offered, things could have been so different.
