Jhon Duran release clause speculation emerges at Aston Villa after latest contract announcement
Bryan King doesn’t expect Aston Villa to have included a release clause in Jhon Duran’s latest contract.
The ex-Villa scout claims the 20-year-old’s value will now be “sky-high”.
Aston Villa announced via their official website on Monday (7 October) that Duran has signed a new deal with the club which runs until 2030.
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks this was a good bit of business by the club.
“I don’t think there will be a release clause in the contract,” King said.
“It looks as though Villa want to keep perspective buyers away and the best way to do that is by giving Duran a brand-new contract.
“That contract is obviously very well-paid if he is there until 20230. Whether the offers or inquiries were coming in all the time, then Villa have done a good bit of business locking him down.
“He has come from America, he has come good, and his value has gone sky-high.”
Jhon Duran commits long-term future to Aston Villa
At one point, it looked as if Duran was close to leaving Villa. Therefore, for the player to commit six years of his career to the club, he must have received a pretty substantial pay rise.
However, considering his willingness to leave in the summer, with King slamming his previous actions, it would have been fair for supporters to assume that a release clause was negotiated.
Therefore, if this isn’t the case, that can only be a good thing for the club and Unai Emery.

It means they are in complete control of the future of a player who has started the season on absolute fires, and as a result, looks as though he has plenty of potential.
In other Aston Villa news, King has been left baffled by a Morgan Rogers decision as Emery fumes.
