Aston Villa owners make £50m decision as full details shared

Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens have put £50million worth of shares into Aston Villa, as shared by Kieran Maguire.

The football finance expert posted an image via his X account [8 October] showing the document that has been submitted via Companies House.

What the cash influx will be used towards remains unknown, but it is a positive statement of intent from the owners to pump yet more money into the club.

Aston Villa are in good hands under Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens

Villa have made great strides on and off the pitch in the past 12 months and, given the ongoing ownership debacles occurring in the Premier League at Everton and Chelsea, the supporters can rest easy knowing the club is under the stewardship of Sawiris and Edens.

Unai Emery has taken to the Champions League like a duck to water upon the side’s return to the European elite after a 40-year hiatus, with two wins from their opening two fixtures including a monumental 1-0 win against Bayern Munich at Villa Park.

With Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara gaining valuable minutes with the U21s as they prepare to return to the first team, Villa are set to go from strength to strength as Emery looks to prove last season was no fluke for his side.

Villa have maintained their upward trajectory into the new season and sit fifth in the Premier League table, level on points with Chelsea and only four points behind league leaders Liverpool.

It feels like Aston Villa are only a few more additions away from becoming genuine contenders both domestically and in Europe and, after the club splashed £50m on the acquisition of Amadou Onana from Everton, there will be hope among the supporters this new cash influx will be spent on January signings.

However, not too much can be made of the owners’ decision as of yet. The Aston Villa faithful should relax and enjoy the ride as this side is quickly becoming one of the most exciting in the Premier League.
