Morgan Rogers outcome in Aston Villa v Bayern Munich inevitable after what happened last week

Dan Bardell has backed Morgan Rogers to score for Aston Villa against Bayern Munich after netting his first goal of the season at the weekend.

The England Under-21 international fired home an equaliser at Portman Road against Ipswich Town on Sunday (29 September) for his first of the campaign.

The 22-year-old has had a positive season so far with his impact against Wolves being picked out for particular praise on Match of the Day [21 September].

His first goal could open the floodgates, with a strike in the Champions League predicted by Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I was saying a few weeks ago that once Ollie Watkins got off the mark, you knew he would go on a run and he has.

I feel the same about Rogers. Once he got off the mark last season he went on a mini run as well.

He will get goals and assists this season – his all-round game is too good for it not to happen. He’s been unlucky in so many games this season already.

I’d back him to score against Bayern.

The former Manchester City academy graduate has started the season in impressive fashion but had just lacked that finishing touch.

Rogers has provided two assists in the Premier League campaign and has now found the back of the net with a cool finish against Ipswich.

There is hope that this could lead to him becoming a consistent goal scorer which could start with the visit of Bayern Munich to Villa Park on Wednesday 2 October.

With him and OIlie Watkins fit and firing right now, the duo could cause trouble for Vincent Kompany’s side going forward in the Champions League.
