Bayern Munich ‘salivating’ as Aston Villa weakness exposed in recent days
Noel Egan claims Bayern Munich will be “salivating” after watching Aston Villa draw 2-2 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday (29 September).
The ex-Villa scout feels that Kieran McKenna’s side exposed the right-hand side of Villa’s backline.
Ezri Konsa started at right-back, while Diego Carlos played on the right-hand side of a back-two. However, the Brazillian in particular struggled at Portman Road.
And Egan – speaking exclusively to Villa News – claims Bayern Munich could run away with proceedings at Villa Park in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday (2 October).
“Villa didn’t play well, but that was down to Ipswich,” Egan said.
“They continually exposed the right-hand side of the Villa back-four time and time again. Bayern will be salivating at that, Villa were too easy to play through.”
“A lot of the goals that Villa have scored this season have come from the full-backs. Ipswich kept their wide players high which penned the Villa full-backs back.
“It is the first time we’ve seen that this season. The fullbacks couldn’t get anywhere near the Ipswich box. That was excellent coaching from McKenna and the Ipswich staff.
“If Bayern Munich come to Villa Park, and they want to be adventurous and keep players up, then I think they will have a field day.
Aston Villa to struggle against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League?
It has been quite some time since Villa played a match as big as the upcoming clash with Bayern Munich.
Therefore, a disappointing draw with Ipswich Town was not the ideal preparation for Emery and his players. In addition, they will be without one key player at Villa Park amid a recent injury blow.

As a result, Emery will need to make sure his side is prepared correctly and responds in the right way. It might be tricky against Vincent Kompany’s men. However, it also has the potential to be a historic evening.
In other Aston Villa news, Egan was left fuming after a controversial incident in the draw with Ipswich Town.
