John McGinn devastated as Aston Villa injury update emerges ahead of Bayern Munich clash
Bryan King claims Aston Villa ace John McGinn will be frustrated to miss the UEFA Champions League clash with Bayern Munich at Villa Park on Wednesday (2 October).
The ex-Villa scout believes the Scotland international would have loved to be a part of the match.
However, as reported by the Mirror (29 September), McGinn will miss the Bayern Munich clash, with Unai Emery expecting him to be out for up to “four weeks altogether.”
And King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – has insisted that this match will be a big test for the club.
“It is a big blow for McGinn himself,” King said.
“I’d imagine he would have loved to play in this match, he will be gutted. Villa played Young Boys in the first match, which was a nice way to open their Champions League account with a win.
“However, now they’re going in against the big boys. This is going to be a real test of how far the club have come. Therefore, Villa without any shadow of a doubt need to field their strongest side.
“They can’t be messing around with fringe players. That is the nature of the Champions League, your best team needs to be ready on a Tuesday or Wednesday and the weekend. Big test for Emery and his players.”
John McGinn set to miss out for Aston Villa v Bayern Munich
This upcoming clash with Bayern Munich was already difficult enough. However, it has been made that bit more tricky due to the absence of McGinn.
Not only is it a cruel blow to the club, but it is a cruel blow to the player himself. McGinn has been part of the Villa furniture for years and is a big reason the club reached the Champions League in the first place.
Therefore, he more than most players deserves to be part of these special nights.
However, he isn’t available, and the club and player himself must now make their peace with that. Emery needs to get his players switched on, especially after their most recent result, with one player perhaps at risk of being dropped.

A 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town at Portman Road on Sunday (29 September) was not the ideal preparation for Bayern Munich, and Emery will need to make much smarter team selection decisions in midweek.
If not, it could be a very difficult evening for the Spaniard and his players.
In other Aston Villa news, King has urged one player to tighten up after what he did in the draw with Ipswich Town on Sunday.
