Aston Villa ‘argument’ over Bailey and Ramsey assessed ahead of Ipswich showdown

Ty Bracey would be happy with Leon Bailey or Jacob Ramsey starting against Ipswich Town as Unai Emery looks set to make a decision.

The Jamaica international returned to the starting XI against Wycombe Wanderers this week after being absent from the start against Young Boys and Wolves.

There is a question of whether the 27-year-old will keep his place against the Tractor Boys as Emery’s side travel to Portman Road on Sunday 29 September.

Villa podcaster Bracey, who features on the Villa Social, believes the Villans have enough depth to be pleased with any eventuality.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It all depends whether or not Bailey has got 90 minutes in him, we don’t truly know how healed his injury is.

I’d be happy with either, we want Bailey back to full fitness after he did everything last season to show he should be a starter in this team.

If Bailey isn’t quite ready then that is ok because we have Ramsey. I’d be absolutely fine either way and it’s nice to have the conversation about our depth.

The argument isn’t about us not having depth, it’s who should be making it into the starting 11.

Leon Bailey could feature for Aston Villa against Ipswich Town

The former Bayer Leverkusen star has been as important to the Villans as almost anyone in the last 12 months so it was a blow to have him missing.

This has only been compounded by an injury to John McGinn which could leave a hole in Emery’s squad in the coming weeks.

It isn’t easy to replace Bailey and what he offers, especially while Jaden Philogene also appears to be dealing with injury concerns of his own.

The Villa boss may rely on Ramsey to show his quality and step up to the plate and fill in for the winger if neither are fit for the trip to face Ipswich.

The England under-21 international performed well against Young Boys and will hope to keep up that form if called upon at Portman Road.
