Ollie Watkins and Jhon Duran to be distured by £20m Aston Villa transfer news
Bryan King fears Aston Villa could cause “unease” among Jhon Duran and Ollie Watkins by signing Beşiktaş striker Semih Kılıçsoy.
The ex-Villa scout wouldn’t want to see Villa pursue a deal for the 19-year-old striker.
According to a report from CaughtOffside (22 September), Villa are one of several Premier League clubs interested in Kılıçsoy, who is valued at £21million by Beşiktaş.
However, King – speaking exclusively to Villa News – thinks the transfer would send out the wrong message to the club’s current stars.
“I wouldn’t be interested in that deal,” King said.
“You’ve got two players who are scoring goals. This could cause unease among both of these strikers, which is the last thing Villa will want.
“They’d be thinking, ‘Well why are Villa signing another striker for £20million, are they not satisfied with me?'”

Kılıçsoy is still a young player. Therefore, his signing could be seen as one for the future.
As a result, this likely wouldn’t bother Watkins as much. By the time Kılıçsoy was ready to become a serious first-team player, the England international might be past his prime anyway.
However, Duran isn’t likely to see things in the same way. He is only a year older than Kılıçsoy, and therefore likely sees himself as next in line after Watkins, especially after the way he has played this season.
As a result, if Villa were to go ahead and sign Kılıçsoy, it might leave Duran questioning his position at the club. That is not something which Unai Emery would want.
Considering the form that Duran has been in this season, Villa should be looking to extend his stay with the club and prepare him for a regular first-team role, not push him away.
