Unai Emery snubs Rory Wilson v Wycombe as Aston Villa contract rumours rumble on
Ty Bracey believes Rory Wilson didn’t feature for Aston Villa against Wycombe Wanderers as he refuses to sign a new contract.
This situation has rumbled on in B6 for many months with Fabrizio Romano reporting on 24 March that Villa have offered the Scotland U-21 international a new five-year deal.
Six months later, the 18-year-old has still not pen to paper and is yet to make his senior debut for the Villans.
Villa podcaster, who features on the Villa Social, Bracey thinks it was nice for Unai Emery to play youngsters but was surprised to see the striker miss out.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bracey said: “It was nice for Emery to have full faith in the youth setup and you could see that with the players that started.
“It was refreshing to see even if it was a bit rocky throughout the game but it was just nice to see the young players rewarded.
“I was surprised not to see Rory Wilson, but the rumours are that he doesn’t want to sign a new contract.
“I assume that’s why we didn’t see him feature.”

The Scot is one of the Villans’ most impressive and highly anticipated youngsters but has still not featured in any capacity for the first team.
This is strange given the number of goals he has scored at every level he has featured in at academy level, including the UEFA Youth League, so must have something to do with his contract situation.
It is clear that the club and it’s hierarchy hold Wilson in high esteem given the five year contract offer that is on the table.
The question is why wouldn’t he want to sign this deal as an 18-year-old coming through the academy of a current Champions League-level side?
Only the former Rangers starlet knows the answer but his indecision may be having a damaging effect on his first team prospects at Villa Park.
