Morgan Rogers leaves pundit amazed in ‘outstanding’ Aston Villa display v Young Boys
Unai Emery will be very pleased with Morgan Rogers after his excellent performance for Aston Villa against Young Boys.
The Villans kicked off their Champions League campaign with style, thrashing YB 3-0 in Bern on Tuesday (17 September).
Goals from Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana were enough to secure three points in the league phase of Europe’s elite competition.
Despite not getting on the scoresheet, while speaking live on talkSPORT 2 (17 September, 6:37pm), Gabby Agbonlahor picked out Rogers for his showing.
He said: “Rogers has been outstanding in the number 10 position, constantly getting on the ball.”

The England Under 21 international has just gone from strength to strength under Emery and has now made a positive step up into the Champions League.
The 22-year-old wasn’t fazed as he continued to play his natural game, completing four dribbles with an 80 per cent success rate [FotMob].
These ventures forward didn’t go to waste as Rogers created four chances for his teammates in his 88 minute performance.
The forward was unfortunate not to secure a goal involvement after registering 0.21 expected goals and 0.23 expected assists throughout his showing.
He was consistently asking for the ball off his teammates, which saw him take 55 touches with 11 of them coming in the opposition penalty area.
Emery will have been pleased to see the defensive side of his game come out even in a match where Villa were largely on top.
An impressive showing helping out at the back saw the former Manchester City starlet win seven duels and make one interception – it really was an all-round masterclass.
There was a lot to like about Rogers’ performance as he just continues to get better in a Villa shirt.
