Jacob Ramsey faces Unai Emery axe after Aston Villa win v Everton
Jacob Ramsey failed to impress Unai Emery with his Aston Villa performance against Everton on Saturday (14 September).
The Villans were able to secure their third win of the season at Villa Park despite going 2-0 down in the first half.
Thanks to an Ollie Watkins brace and a thunderous Jhon Duran strike, Emery’s side took all three points.
With Leon Bailey out injured, Ramsey was brought in from the start and struggled to make an impact before being hooked with 20 minutes to go.
Jacob Ramsey struggles for Aston Villa against Everton
The England Under-21 international came in for his first start of the season but will struggle to maintain that place after his showing against Sean Dyche’s side.
There were some positive elements to his performance as he kept up a 95 per cent accuracy across his 37 passes [FotMob].
Unfortunately, this is where the positivity ends around his showing as the 23-year-old struggled to impose himself up against the Toffees’ packed-out backline.
The Englishman had one shot at Villa Park but failed to get it on target and trouble Jordan Pickford, which it goes without saying was disappointing.
Ramsey typically prides himself on his ability to drive with the ball but against Everton he failed to complete one dribble in three attempts at beating an opponent.
This often saw him look to go forward before passing the ball backwards, rather than looking to take a risk up against Ashley Young.

The midfielder was also poor defensively, which saw him lose five duels and maintain a 38 per cent win rate. That will certainly frustrate Emery, who wants his wide players to help the back line.
Looking ahead to the Champions League clash against Young Boys, the Spaniard may consider dropping the 23-year-old to the bench.
