Aston Villa change mooted v Everton amid Leon Bailey injury development

Dan Bardell has predicted that Jacob Ramsey will replace the injured Leon Bailey against Everton on Saturday (14 September).

The Villans welcome the Toffees to Villa Park off the back of a win against Leicester City before the international break.

If Unai Emery wants to make it three victories from four games, he will likely have to do so without Jamaica international Bailey who went off injured at the King Power.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested that Ramsey could come into the midfield in place of the tricky winger.

Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “I think it’ll just be Ramsey in for Bailey unless there are any other injuries.

McGinn ended up shifting over to the right when Bailey went off in the Leicester game. Ramsey looks fit and raring to go so it is still a very high-level midfield.

For me, I can’t see Jhon Duran coming in from the start but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in next week with Ollie Watkins given a rest.

If everyone is fit and there are no problems that’s the only change that I can see.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injury in the past year, but now, it looks like he is getting back to his best once again.

This saw him play a key role in the opening goal against Leicester, latching on to a clever Youri Tielemans free kick to set up Amadou Onana.

His performance at the King Power was positive but it will still be frustrating for the Villans to be without Bailey against Everton.

The winger has been a key part of Villa’s rise under Emery and losing him for any length of time is a blow.

With that being said, having the likes of Jaden Philogene and Ramsey waiting in the wings to take up the mantle just shows the quality of the Villa squad right now.
