Aston Villa summer transfer mooted for Morgan Gibbs-White as priority admission shared
Dan Bardell believes Aston Villa may reignite their interest in Nottingham Forest ace Morgan Gibbs-White next summer after focusing on other areas for this season.
The Daily Mail reported on 4 September that the Villans and Newcastle United made “tentative enquiries” to Nottingham Forest over the 24-year-old.
Despite this interest, the versatile forward remained at the City Ground and has since received his first cap for the England men’s national team.
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested Unai Emery will have had other priorities this year but could move for the ex-Wolves man next summer.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “He is going to play for England and so will have suitors over the next 12-18 months.
“He fits the profile of the type of player that Villa have looked at in the past but with Ramsey, Rogers, McGinn, Philogene, I’m not sure he would have been a priority over the summer.
“Villa need a player who can play as a ten and as a striker and he has played as a striker in the past at Sheffield United.
“He would probably be out of Villa’s price range but he is a very good player who works hard and can handle pressure.
“I can’t see it happening in January but in the summer he may consider his options.“
Aston Villa could move for Morgan Gibbs-White
The Villans were looking to replace the outbound Moussa Diaby during the transfer window but opted not to sign a like-for-like alternative.
Jaden Philogene came in and will act as a deputy to Leon Bailey on the right-hand side while Morgan Rogers operates as a second striker.
The form of the England U21 star has softened the blow of not signing a new forward which could see Emery focus on other transfer targets moving forward.
There could still be a place for Gibbs-White given the qualities that he has shown over the years with Forest and while on loan with the Blades.

A deal could be struck next summer but may all depend on whether Rogers can keep up his excellent start to the campaign for the rest of the season.
