Aston Villa hide behind PSR as ‘pure greed’ torn to shreds by Sky Sports journalist
Dan Bardell believes Aston Villa are using PSR concerns to hide behind after announcing controversial ticket prices for the Champions League.
The Villans announced on 4 September that supporters are expected to pay up to £97 for an adult ticket for each of the four home games in Europe’s elite competition.
This came in the same week as director of football operations Damian Vidagany admitted that Villa almost faced a 10-point deduction for breaching PSR [Daily Mail].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has slammed the club and believes they are hiding behind financial concerns to charge what they like for Champions League matches.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Bardell said: “There is an element of people off the pitch getting away with bad decisions because of Unai Emery on the football side.
“This Champions League thing isn’t the only bad decision that’s been made in the last 18 months, there’s been lots but they’ve got away with it.
“You can only make so many of those decisions before fans get frustrated and that’s what’s happened.
“They’ve pushed fans that little bit too far and universally people are kicking off about it. They cannot justify those prices and they definitely can’t hide behind PSR for them and I think they are.
“This is pure greed from the football club.“
Aston Villa hiding behind PSR with Champions League tickets
Days on from the controversial announcement, the club are yet to make any form of statement about these ticket prices which have caused such a stir.
Supporters are still unhappy and are demanding change which could lead to some form of protest ahead of and during the clash against Everton on Saturday (14 September).
Considering the fact that season ticket holders have already been charged for the clash against Bayern Munich, it doesn’t appear that any change is coming from the club.
This isn’t going to go down well considering the national backlash from fans and press that the Villans have had go against them.

Supporters aren’t stupid and are seeing through the club right now in a move which needs sorting out.
